Mama Said

Mama said that I owe George a BIG apology. Apparently he didn't appreciate me barking and growling at him when he came over to let me and my schnauzer friend outside. He also didn't like me peeing all over, and he DEFINITELY did not like me snapping at him. But I couldn't help it! I never met him before and I didn't know what he was trying to do to me!

Mama explained later that he was just trying to help me so I would have a chance to go outside and not have to soil my crate. Then I felt bad, so I have to agree. I DO owe George an apology. I hope he accepts this little picture of me as a token of my remorse. I even got groomed the other day, so I look as good as ever!

Yum!

A friend gave me a new chew toy! I'm SO happy. So is mommy, because I've been gnawing at it for over 20 minutes and haven't destroyed it yet!

Mommy's Wish List

This is a picture of the chair I love to sit on. It's not pushed up to the desk because I can get on it and then eat everything on the desk, so whenever mommy gets up she has to move the chair back.

Today I went to jump up on the chair as I often do. The only problem was that mommy had moved the chair back a bit at the exact time that I jumped. You could say I got nothing but air. Mommy laughed and laughed and laughed, saying she wished she had a dogcam in the house to catch all the funny things I do!
This is a picture of me sitting on the chair after mommy stopped rolling on the floor laughing.

ZZzzzzARF!

I may look cute, quiet, and peaceful. But actually I'm cute, loud, and anything but peaceful.

As I lay here resting, I'm also barking at some noises I'm hearing outside. Mommy doesn't know whether to yell at me to shut up or to laugh at me because I'm barking without so much as lifting my head.

Ouch

I had a lousy couple of days! Thursday morning I wasn't feeling too well, and threw up. It's not good that I throw up, but it's not so unusual for me to go through a bout of tummy upset once in a while. But today, something really made me feel bad, and I could only run in my crate and whimper. Mommy was right on top of it though, and after I threw up once more she rushed me to the vet ER. I never whimper, and she told the doc that my eyes when I was in the crate looked like a deer caught in the headlights. I think that means I looked scared.

Anyway, bloodwork showed I was okay but working towards dehydration (I was still in normal range for hydration, but working downward). However, the vet felt some kind of lump in my tummy and an xray showed a screw in my gut and some other thing that the vet said was probably the lump she felt. She couldn't tell what it was, though. The big question was whether the screw was working its way out or not. The vet said the best way to tell would be to keep me there about 2 nights with IV fluids and then do another xray to see if it moved. Which is what mommy chose before considering surgery.

So I got to stay there while mommy got to go home. Life is so unfair. The next night she came to visit me and I was happy to see her, though I was still kinda mad, too. I started chewing on the IV set up in my leg and the vet was flabbergasted because I hadn't done that the whole time. Anyway, the new xray showed that the screw did move down towards the colon so this vet, the one who saw me when I was there a few weeks ago, said she didn't feel nor see any other lump or mass and let mommy take me home! They gave me new food for a bland diet, and told mommy to watch for the screw to come out. I did poop at home. Mommy said it was a gooey mess but there wasn't any screw. So we wait. Meanwhile, mommy made me sleep in the crate last night to keep me calm, but she said the doc said it was okay to return to normal activity today! YAY.

I'm worried about mommy though. She keeps muttering something like "there went the next five months' budget". Oh well.

Here We Go Again

Here, I presume, is one example of why mommy keeps trying to fence me in to specific areas of the house. This is a picture of me beginning my reach to grab onto something I want, in this case, a dishtowel.
Here is a picture of the 32 inch gate she bought yesterday at Petsmart. "This gate is almost 3 feet tall", she told me when she came home. She put it up, put the crate (in the foreground) on one side of the bathroom, and me on the other. Then she left for about 15 minutes (oh, she gave me a toy, too). No problem. She was so happy when she came back in and I was still there.

Today she did the same routine, and then left for about 45 minutes! She was THRILLED when she came home and found me still in there. "I finally found a way to let you have some room without destroying my house", she said.

After a while, she left again to go to the drugstore. She was gone about half an hour. When she got home ...

You got it. I was in the bedroom waiting by the door. I only went to the door when I heard her come in, though. Before that I was busy knocking over the lamp and trying to get the money out of the water bottle (she'd once put coins in an empty one to shake when I was being bad).

Mommy just stood there for a few minutes. "How in the world could you possibly jump over a 32 inch gate?" she asked in total awe. (Or anger. I'm not sure which.)

When the shock wore off a bit, we went for a ride.

Straight to Petsmart to return the gate.
